Documentary- Lift
The documentary I watched was called Lift and Basically it was about a cameraman in a lift and he was asking people who came in the lift some questions such as asking what motivates you in the morning, asking people about a part of their childhood. The documentary looks like to me what live was like in the 2000s for the people of London and their daily lives. The people in the video are typical people we have a Jewish Woman, a Guy that always offers the cameraman food, the guy who asked about every question. The documentary itself is 25 minutes and i think it's pretty good and i do recommend it to anyone despite the title not being anything too special, it might not be exciting at first but the video does get better as it goes on. I love the dynamic between the cameraman and the people he films some being annoyed by him others being interested in him, I love the guy who keeps offering him food because it's like he's thinking the cameraman is his friend.
Story Arc
A Story Arc is a chronological construction of a plot or in a novel or story. it can also mean an extended or continuing storyline in episodic releases storytelling media such as television, comic books, board games, video games and films with each episode following a dramatic arc. For example the story will unfold over many episodes.
The different types of story arcs
There are 6 different types of story arcs, Rags to Riches (rise) which starts with the main character at the bottom but by the end they are at the top, for example Matilda starts out with her family ignoring and mistreating her then ends with Matilda moving in with a nice woman. Man in a Hole (fall then rise) which has a character has something bad happen to them but by the end they resolve it, for example Finding Nemo where Nemo gets captured by the dentist but by the end he escapes. Cinderella (rise then fall then rise) which is when a character has a exciting opportunity then had something bad happen then they get back to the top this is known as the hero's journey, for example Harry Potter, he gets introduce to the wizarding world, then loses people he loves than defeats Voldemort, Riches to Rags (fall) where the main character starts out high but then slowly fall. Oedipus (fall then rise then fall) which is when a character falls from grace then they work their way back up only to lose it again. for example we have Frank Grimes from the Simpsons where he gets abandoned by his family and blown up in a explosion then gets a job at the power plant then meeting Homer Simpson and losing his mind and he dies. Finally we have Icarus (rise then fall) where a character has something amazing happen to me then they lose it.
Three Act Structures
Act 1: The Setup
The introduction to the story and characters, The main characters starts out with a normal life but something happens which leads them to a new world and gets called into action and is given his quest by a mentor or a prophecy. This is the act with the least amount of action and it normally drags on.
Act 3: The Resolution
The final Act usually has a confrontation with the villain and the main character where the villain is defeated and everything is back to normal. This is where everything is resolved and the main character is declared the hero and it ends.
3 Stories
There are three different types of endings Happy Ending, Unhappy Ending and Tragedy. Happy Ending is where everything is peaceful again, nothing tragic has happened and the hero gets rewarded. Unhappy ending is where the Hero loses someone they love or the villain gets away and finally Tragedy is where the hero usually ends up in a bad situation.
A Editor's job is to edit the film and put in special effects, they also sort out different scenes to get them to the right order.
Generating Ideas
An idea I would like to do is my passion which is E sports aka as gaming and why it means so much to me.
Documentary- Beautiful Losers
The next documentary I watched was called Beautiful Losers and basically which was about multiple artists from New York City and they talk about different cultures, why they are here today as artists, the graphics in the video are very impressive for the time it came out and especially with the graffiti across the video, they also talk about what happened in their past for example some of them said they couldn't express sadness while others went out skateboarding and beating people up. Most of them didn't have great childhoods are they discuss how they got to where they are now. They use the graffiti to express their art when they were younger and they talk about. All of these artists were nothing until they become artists and they discuss what makes one creative and what makes one an artists. I like the cinematography and the choice of music in it it's very relaxing and the video is consistent throughout, it's entertaining and I think that anyone in the creative industry should watch it. In it they also explain the art industry as a whole and the ending of the video is so emotional the ending is great.
Narrative structure
Narrative structure is a literary element generally described as the structural framework that underlies the order and manner in which a narrative is presented to a reader, listener, or viewer. The narrative text structures are the plot and the setting.
Kurt Vonnegut's a shape a story can tell.
In a 2004 lecture, Kurt Vonnegut shows a variety of shapes a story can take on a graph he drew on a chalkboard, on the vertical axis the GI axis top represents good fortune, they get a promotion, they get married or they win a championship, at the bottom ill fortune they get sick, they get fired or they lose everything in a hurricane. On the horizontal axis the b-e axis the left is the beginning and the right is the end of the story.
Documentary - Super Size me
The Documentary I watched is called Super Size Me which is about Morgan Spurlock eating McDonalds for 30 days to prove that fast food isn't good for you, of course this is a warning to people who eat too much fast food because by the end of the documentary Morgan can't take anymore. I like the use of cinema-photography in the video especially at the beginning when he explains why American is the fattest state of all time and the way the documentary is constructed to fit a story arc I'd say is a man in the hole story because his life gets worse because he's risking his health but by the end he's starts dieting and recovers. It gives a day by day analysis of his progression and what happens after a certain period of time. The reason I chose this documentary is because I wanted to see what happened to Morgan during the documentary and it was the only documentary other then Indie Game The Movie i was interested in but I couldn't watch that one because I didn't have amazon prime video.
Act 2: The Confrontation
The second act is when a lot of problems occur for the Main Character or the whole world in general. Is also when the main character meets the villain for the first time and it doesn't go well. The second act is easily the worst part of the movie because after having a great setup in the first act, the second act is boring in comparison and you just want to hurry to get to the final act.

Job Roles
A Camera person's job is to use the camera to film, that's the main job but they also do sound recording, they make sure the sound is good plus they are in charge of the lighting to make sure the shoot looks good.

A Director's job is to direct the film, you can have more than 1 on the role but there's usually only one director, they also arrange shots the director also works closely with the editor.

Who I would like to a documentary on
I would like to do a documentary on Scott Wozniak aka Scott the Woz who is a Videogame youtuber because I believe he would be a great pick because his style is very unique when compared to other video game reviewers with his "Hey all Scott here," the different people in his videos such as the therapist, the guy who loves Gex and the Guy who's just there among others. Plus he's a big inspiration for me due to his love and big collection of games he has, his cutaway jokes and his catchy intro. His type of comedy is kind of mixed because he talks seriously about the games but also has some funny moments especially with his cutaway jokes.

Idea 2: What I'm passionate about and what it means to me
Ideas for documentaries
I could make my documentary about something that happened to me in real life, a true story, What i'm passionate about. I believe that I could do a documentary about gaming because it's something I know but I don't know everything about gaming so I can do some additional research. Another idea i've got is doing it about a fictional character and what their backstory is and how relatable they are.
Idea 1: Scott the Woz
This is my first Idea for my documentary which is about Scott the Woz. I discuss about what he does, his setup, how inspiring he is, who he does it with. how long he's been doing his job. for this idea i'm gonna ask my friends on their opinion of Scott the Woz if they like him or they hate him and why they do.
The second documentary idea is my passion which is gaming and what it means to me and how gaming can take you out of your world and how is a comfort zone. With this idea I might have my family and my friends talking about my love of gaming and how they feel about it.
Bias
Bias is a disproportionate weight in favour of someone/somebody almost to an unfair level because you think of something very fondly while unfairly hating the other thing in comparison, you can be partial but you also need to be fair.
Idea 3 An discussion about a Fictional Character
The third idea for my documentary is a discussion about a fictional character and what they represent and how relatable they are to us. It could also be a breakdown of the character and what they do. For this idea I'm gonna ask my sister about her opinions on the character I pick and what she feels about that character.
Documentary: Luke 04: Dreams of a Pixelation
This documentary is about how how much I love gaming and why it means so much to me. I plan to use my local retro gaming store called Retro Giant and ask the guy for an interview. I'll also interview my sister because she's the one that introduced me to gaming. The name of the documentary is a reference to Sonic 06 and the sub heading is a reference to Silver's theme Dreams of an Absolution.

This is my font design so far i've still got to finish it but it's coming along just fine.
A researcher typically works for academic institutions or for businesses. Researchers gather data during the project life cycle, analyse the data and publish the findings to aid new research, enrich scholarly literature and improve the decision making process. A researcher earns around £50,000 a year but it can very between £40,000 and £60,000.
Agenda

An agenda is a plan or goal that guides someone's behaviour and they usually kept their goal secret. For example, they could possibly root for their friend during a competition but secretly be against them.

A location scout's job is to work with the film's pre production team to find the most suitable place to film. They start usually by reading a script or screenplay. They work under the direction of the film's production unit in order to find a place to film.

This is the fully completed font design I'm going to use for my documentary.

The Basics of Lighting
The three basics of lighting are Intensity, Hard vs soft and Colour Temperature. Intensity is how intense the light is aka how bright it is. Hard vs Soft is how the lighting looks. A hard quality has dark shadows and sharp edges, in contrast to soft quality which has lighter more diffused shadows and colour temperature which is how bright the colour is. If the colour is red or yellow the lower the temperature and if the colour is blue and white the higher the temperature.

Three-Point Lighting
There are three different point of lightings; Key Light, Fill Light and the Backlight, The key light is a standard method used in visual media, Fill Light is used shines on the subject, but from a side angle relative to the key and is often placed at a lower position than the key and The Backlight is used to shine behind the subject, often to one side or the other.
This is most of my games that I own. I keep them in a cupboard in the gaming room. It's starting to overflow with games.

These are my interviews with some of the gaming students as I ask them about their favourite games, games that don't like and how they got into gaming.
I also interviewed my friend Alex about his experiences with gaming.
For these Interviews I had Tom and Harvey help me with the camera and so they will be in the credits.

This is my font design for my documentary which is based on the Sonic 06 logo.
This is my interview with the owner of my local retro gaming store Steve as I ask him how he got to open a store and ask if he buys to sell or to game as well.

This is outside the retro store that I also filmed.

This is me looking around the retro store at all the games he has to sell.

This is me recording myself playing Sonic Heroes on the ps2, for this I have my sister film me for all different shots and perspectives.
This is me playing Sonic Heroes on the ps2 and the shot is a close up off the controller.

This is my intro for my documentary where I have absolution Glitch into Pixilation

This is my Documentary Called Luke 04: Dreams of a Pixelation. The documentary is about my experiences of video games and why I love video games so much, I also interviews various people including some of the gaming students, My friend Alex Killman and the owner of the retro giant Steven Barrett, I also have myself talking about some games i love, I don't like and games that i have a soft spot for. I also have footage from each game that i show. This documentary turned out good but it does have a few issues such as the music can be too loud in some parts, there's one part where the audio was too loud and you can barely hear the student I was interviewing. But I believe it turned out much better than what i was expecting but I could definitely improve if i do this again in the future.

These are my Storyboards for Luke 04 Dreams of a Pixelation.
This is the updated version of my documentary which cuts out a scene that was very distracting, i couldn't change it so i got rid of it entirely.
I also Helped Both Tom and Harvey with their documentaires. I help tom record an interview with a teacher and i did a Interview with Harvey.
This is the trailer for my documentary which shows different bits and pieces of the documentary. I have completed the documentary but i wanted to make a trailer for it.
